These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Selfoss desktop application ("Software"). By purchasing, downloading, or using Selfoss, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.
1. License Grant
Perpetual License Model
Selfoss is licensed, not sold. Your purchase grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software version purchased (e.g., V2.0) indefinitely.
- ✓Lifetime V2.0 access: Use your purchased version forever, with no expiration.
- ✓Free maintenance updates: Receive bug fixes, security patches, and compatibility updates for V2.0.
- ✓Optional upgrades: Major version upgrades (V3.0, V4.0) are available as optional paid updates.
Standard License
Single user, single device installation.
Professional License
Single user, up to 3 devices (work, home, laptop).
Enterprise Team Pack
5+ users, centralized license management.
2. Permitted Use
You may use Selfoss to:
- →Process meeting transcripts, audio files, and text documents for personal or commercial use
- →Generate visualizations, summaries, and structured insights from your data
- →Install the Software on devices as permitted by your license tier
- →Use outputs generated by Selfoss in any way you see fit (presentations, reports, etc.)
- →Create backups of your installation and data for disaster recovery
3. Restrictions
You may NOT:
- ✗Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software or attempt to derive source code
- ✗Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the Software to third parties
- ✗Remove or modify any proprietary notices, labels, or marks from the Software
- ✗Use the Software for illegal purposes or to violate any applicable laws or regulations
- ✗Share your license key with unauthorized users or exceed device limits
- ✗Create competing products based on Selfoss's features or functionality
4. Intellectual Property
Our IP
Selfoss, including all code, design, documentation, trademarks, and branding, remains the exclusive property of Selfoss. Your license grants you the right to use the Software, not to own its intellectual property.
Your IP
You retain 100% ownership of all data, transcripts, visualizations, and outputs you create using Selfoss. We make no claim to your intellectual property.
5. Disclaimer of Warranty
Selfoss is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
- • Guarantees that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all systems
- • Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated outputs
You acknowledge that AI models (local or cloud-based) may produce inaccurate or unexpected results. You are responsible for reviewing and validating all outputs before using them for critical decisions.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Selfoss and its affiliates shall NOT be liable for any:
- •Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
- •Loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill
- •Damages arising from use of third-party AI services (OpenAI, Gemini, etc.)
- •Issues caused by incompatible hardware, OS updates, or third-party software
Maximum liability: Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license.
7. Refund Policy
30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
We offer a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund policy. If you're not satisfied with Selfoss for any reason, contact us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

- ✓Processing time: 5-10 business days to original payment method
- ✓License deactivation: Your license key will be deactivated upon refund
8. Termination
Your rights:
You may terminate this agreement at any time by uninstalling Selfoss and ceasing all use. Your perpetual license remains valid, and you may reinstall later.
Our rights:
We may terminate your license if you:
- • Violate any term of this agreement (e.g., reverse engineering, redistribution)
- • Use the Software for illegal activities
- • Exceed device/user limits of your license tier
Upon termination for cause, your license is revoked, and you must uninstall all copies of Selfoss. No refund will be provided for cause-based terminations.
9. Updates & Upgrades
🔄Maintenance Updates (Free)
Your license includes free updates for bug fixes, security patches, and compatibility improvements within your major version (e.g., V2.0, V2.1, V2.2).
⬆️Major Version Upgrades (Optional Paid)
Major version upgrades (e.g., V2.0 → V3.0) with significant new features are available as optional paid upgrades. You're never forced to upgrade and can continue using your purchased version indefinitely.
10. Third-Party Components
Selfoss incorporates third-party open-source libraries and components. These are subject to their respective licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0, etc.). A complete list of third-party components and licenses is available in the Software's "About" section.
Third-party AI services: If you choose to use cloud-based AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini), you are subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Austria, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Vienna, Austria.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or Software features. Material changes will be communicated via:
- • Email notification to registered license holders
- • In-app notification upon next Software launch
- • Update posted on our website with effective date
Continued use of Selfoss after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
